-
Shinjuku City - the city is absolutely buzzing with people, bars and lights. spend the nights here.
TO EAT
- Uoagashi Nihon-Ichi - the most delicious standing sushi bar. our first stop after landing in Japan and I still think about this meal.
- Golden Gai - streets of hundreds of small yakitori and drinking bars to spend the night.
- Tsukiji Fish Market - take the train to the fish market for fresh seafood (duh), A5 wagyu, sweets and ramen.
- Sushi Bar Nigirite - an omakase experience, where you get to try seasonal seafood and delicious flavour pairings.
SHIBUYA
TO DO
- Medical Clinic - highly recommend not catching multiple illnesses and being bed ridden for days.
- Takeshita Street - if you want to drink coffee with a ferret .. or a baby pig, this is your street. packed with souvenir and vintage shops, and street food.
- Omote-Sando - the main shopping strip, with lots of designer and vintage shopping options.
- Shibuya Sky and Crossing - betting this is already on your list, but worth visiting to see people sprint across the second the lights go green to get their insta pic.
-
Shimokitazawa - I’ve heard this is the go-to district for vintage shopping, but I had to give it a miss as I couldn't walk 100m without wheezing (hot, I know).
TO EAT
- Gonpachi Nori-Temaki Harajuku - a sushi experience focused on temaki (hand rolling your sushi).
- Seafood Misaki Shibuya East - delicious sushi. ate here twice; dined in once and for the second time, ate it on the floor of my hotel room as I emerged from my death bed.
